Creative Healthcare Systems, Inc. (CHS) introduced the MedGenix Health Information Network in 1993. It is now installed and running strong in many community hospitals, clinics, long term care facilities and home health agencies across the central United States with several more scheduled to be installed this year. We believe in the mission of local, community based healthcare and give it our undivided attention. We understand the financial challenges of community based organizations and are committed to delivering cost-effective, advanced technology solutions. Before work on MedGenix was begun, the founding engineers of CHS consulted with their existing community hospital clients to learn what their expectations for a hospital system of the future would be. With these recommendations in mind, CHS established five basic principles:

  1. Prepare the hospital to become the hub of a community-wide patient care information network. Use cooperative partnerships, proactive management, and the newest, yet most reliable technologies to get the job done.

  2. All aspects of the system will support a standard open architecture, including a relational database and thin client workstations. But most importantly, the architecture must take advantage of the rapidly evolving Internet technology.

  3. Capture data only once and make it available to all that need it in real time.

  4. All users must be able to interact with the system in a similar, user-friendly manner. Access to data will only be limited by the individual's privileges, not by their ability to operate the system.

  5. Information will be made available at all times, and will not require additional personnel to sustain it.

After taking a hard look at existing third generation hospital information systems, CHS realized that it would be nearly impossible to design a system using old technology that fully supported these principles. New, leading-edge technologies were researched to find the ones that made the most sense. Then, starting from scratch, a new system was created. MedGenix was the result. Designed and written to run on open platforms, CHS took advantage of the powerful Sun Solaris UNIX network operating system, INFORMIX database, and fourth generation programming languages to allow a totally integrated system. The new MedGenix Health Information System met all of the requirements suggested by CHS' clients, and much more! Recognizing that not all community hospitals are the same, MedGenix was also designed to allow customization to fit any hospital's specific needs - easily. With the explosive growth of the Internet, CHS expects an even more drastic increase in demand for our Internet Ready MedGenix products.
