Once a visit is selected the user can carry out a multitude of functions from a single menu. A few examples include the ability to print demand or detail bills, print statements, manually manipulate or create UB 92s or HCFA 1500s, and update MPI, insurance information, or collection notes. This module also comes packed with an impressive selection of aging reports and other collection tools.

Accounts Payable
The MedGenix Accounts Payable module balances two critical and sometimes conflicting issues: Timely vendor and protected cash flow. Accounts Payable ensures that timely, accurate data is entered utilizing efficient auditing and error detection features. For example, immediate data validation improves both accuracy and speed. MedGenix Accounts Payable has extensive setup criteria to keep more control over critical cash flow. After these criteria are established, the system tells you which vendors to pay and when.

Yes, this module will give you the ability to perform the basic scheduling functions you would expect: set future appointments, block unavailable time slots, copy appointments, etc. But it also lets the office staff register the patient, input orders, and track the patient through their visit. The appointment screen is easy to follow and can be viewed in a variety of ways. A convenient patient data summary for each visit can be brought up with a single mouse click or by scrolling over the visits.

Clinic Management
One of the strategies that community hospitals have used to compete is to establish rural health clinics. The MedGenix Clinic Management module was designed to link those clinics to the core hospital network. The patient’s Master Patient Index (MPI) is stored on the hospital server. A facility number differentiates each visit to either the hospital or clinic.

Executive Information
# The reporting capabilities of the MedGenix system are one of its most impressive attributes. The Executive Information System is a compilation of reports and screens designed to make critical hospital information and key indicators available to decision makers in real time. One popular report found in the EIS is the Daily Operating Summary. It puts current census, patient day, revenue, accounts receivable, and FTE information all on one printed page.

Fixed Assets
The MedGenix Fixed Assets module lets you value and calculate the depreciation of assets with increased flexibility. It allows you to select any depreciation schedule you need. Or, you can use multiple schedules to satisfy the requirements of different accounting systems. This flexibility also allows you to choose the time periods for calculations, and to analyze current or future valuations of assets at any point within a reporting period.

Human Resources
The MedGenix Human Resources module does an excellent job of automating the daily routines of personnel clerks and human resources managers. The system consolidates employee demographic data and employment information on a single screen, resulting in quick, easy access. Safeguards have been incorporated to prevent data duplication and other data entry errors. They also prevent unauthorized users from accessing this confidential data. Because data is never purged, you will have access to an on-line, historical prospective of each employee.

Medical Necessity Compliance
This module add-in gives your facility the opportunity to check procedures for medical necessity before they are performed. It works by comparing the ICD-9 and CPT-4 combinations using your specific LMRP data to alert you when a non-valid combination exists. From there you can automatically generate an Advance Beneficiary notification with the procedure(s) and the corresponding dollar amounts the patient will be responsible for. Quickly becomes a valuable tracking tool.

Medical Records
# The MedGenix Medical Records module is an integral part of the network. Its processes interweave financial data with clinical information, in many ways. Comprehensive reports included with this module provide valuable and timely information for patient care management. Patient Accounting
Community hospitals rely on their business office to send claims electronically, get patient bills out, track and work accounts receivable, and reconcile payments efficiently and effectively to ensure their financial health. The Patient Accounting module encompasses all the tools the business office and health information management departments need to automate this process. Claims can be created and passed through the required edits with minimal intervention by personnel. Similarly remittance advice can be received by the system automatically, updating A/R and third party logs. We are currently in the testing phase and will be ready for the HIPAA transaction and code set requirements.

Patient Care Documentation
The MedGenix Patient Care Documentation module offers increased efficiency in charting and maintaining a patient’s clinical information. Keywords allow nurses to document information faster by automatically filling in text of commonly used phrases and comments. Nurse’s notes, charts, and patient labels can all be printed quickly, on demand, allowing more time for patient contact instead of paper and computer duty.

Patient Management
Centered on the Master Patient Index (MPI), the MedGenix Patient Management module is at the core of total system integration. Patient data is retrieved from multiple places throughout the network and deposited in one location in the database. Everything from a patient’s address to financial and clinical information is stored only one time in a central location. The efficiency of this architecture is most apparent during any admission, transfer, case management, or financial tracking function.

Payroll
The MedGenix Payroll module is designed to be easy to use, while retaining the flexibility to accommodate a variety of healthcare requirements. And, because of the integrated database environment, deductions for employee purchases such as pharmacy, cafeteria, and inventory items flow automatically to payroll. Swingbed Featuring MDS
If you are required to complete the MDS for Swing Beds, this component of the MedGenix system can save much time and energy. Since this module shares the common database, patients that need the MDS completed can be selected from a list of active Swing Bed patients. When doing the first MDS for a patient the demographic data comes over reducing data entry and ensuring accuracy. The next time the MDS is to be filled out for the same patient the user has the option of updating the last one, thereby allowing the user to change only the fields where the answer is different once again saving time. The MDS can then be sent and the RUGS and HIPPS codes are generated automatically for billing. This module also alerts the user when it is time to create the next MDS for a patient.

Time and Attendance
The MedGenix Time and Attendance module replaces two common, time consuming procedures:
- manual time card data input
- interface programming for conventional, stand-alone time clock systems.
Being fully integrated with Payroll and Human Resources, this module simplifies and streamlines the entire payroll process. Data is instantly verified as it is entered.
